From Sketchpad to Shop

I decided to try making a quick drawing of the first thing that popped into my head and putting it right into the shop. I've been gardening so much this summer that I've got plants on the brain! Go here to purchase.

Just a quick heads up to let you know I've got a MASSIVE sale going on the shop right now. A whopping 25% off EVERYTHING. I'm getting ready to introduce two new products and in the meantime I'm clearing out what I have in stock. And, if that weren't incentive enough, look at my cute little employee who dutifully brings every single order to the post office.

I had been wanting to re-work this image for awhile. It's a design I came up with years ago. Normally I wouldn't go back to such an old drawing, but I had some ideas, like the dot screen and distressed lines, that I wanted to experiment with and this seemed like a good image to work on. I also want to add more large prints for baby nurseries in my shop, because lately that's what people seem the most interested in. So this will be a 16 x 20 print. Available in the shop soon.

These two creatures are now up in the shop. For once I'm selling some art that is ready to hang. These are mounted on wood and sprayed with a protective matte finish and I'm so happy with the result. I plan on adding more, but for now I've just got one of each in stock. Go check 'em out!

Mother's Day is May 11

As a mom to a 5 year old, I hear "Mama?" about three hundred times a day. In the morning, I respond, "Yes Sweetie?" By evening, it's more of a "Yeeeeeesssssss?" or even a "What?" I never dreamed when I named my business that I'd be hearing Mama sooo much. It's become the most important word in my life, really. So for Mother's Day, I made a card that I think says all that needs to be said (and has a blank interior for daughters, sons, and spouses to add in all of their own sentiments). In the shop now.

These stream-of-consciousness drawings are the only art I'm creating these days. These doodles are therapeutic and give me something fun to do while I wait outside Penny's ballet and tap classes. This style of drawing brings me back to how I felt about drawing as a kid...that feeling of discovering what I can make, for my own gratification. Each one is created with no forethought, and each lasts only a few minutes.
