Portrait

As promised, I'm sharing the lovely portrait Penny's grandfather painted of her, and the photo he used as reference. There's a bit of reflection from the glass, but you get the idea. My dad, who's been a successful commercial artist since the 60's, used this cool technique: he started with a streaky wash of brown tempera, then drew over that with a wax pencil, then went back in with tempera to color the hat and flower.
