Yesterday.

Yesterday's Charlie Parker-themed street festival strangely had nothing to do with Charlie Parker. Nevertheless, I met some cute kids and sold my first onesie!

I also ran my first credit card. Fancy!

They're here!

The onesies finally arrived today! Just in time, too, because I'm doing an impromptu craft fair tomorrow in honor of Charlie Parker's birthday. I've already listed one in the shop, with more to follow.

See my cool labels?

Portrait of the bun

I've been having fun playing with my cheapo set of watercolors lately. I don't even have proper watercolor paper, which of course means I have to work fast, unless I want a wrinkled, soggy mess. I have an idea in mind for this painting and I'm putting it into motion this week. Stay tuned!

Floofy

She truly is.

whee!

I picked up my onesie labels today! And not a moment too soon, because the list of babies is growing. I just found out I'm going to be an aunt! So, while I was in the fashion wholesale district today (where my labels are made), I stopped by a trimmings store and couldn't resist spending the last 16 dollars in my wallet on these...

If you come to one of the many craft shows I'll be selling at this fall, (see my shop announcement for specifics) your purchase might be tied up with one!

Footsies

Oh, Cinnie. Is there anything you can't do?

Happy Birthday!

This is my first real "Happy Birthday" card. I never had a good idea for one, but yesterday I was sketching a kitty sitting at a table, and the open tuna can just struck me. The cat in this painting doesn't look like either of my cats, but the rabbit looks like my rabbit!

Distracting myself

I spend a lot of time waiting, so I always carry a sketchbook to relax and pass the time. The sketch above was drawn Thursday while waiting for my brother and his girlfriend just outside the Javits center. I've been considering getting a cell phone, but I know once I have one I'll use that to pass the time instead of sketching. I'll have to try not to.

Monday morning

Yesterday we were treated to a change of scenery, albeit under sad circumstances, as we rode a train along the Hudson.

Early holiday drawin'...

When I was little my parents had a friend who'd send us these fantastic postcards:

Through Googling a bit I've found these are called "Mainzer Cats", named after the publisher of the postcards. Personally, I'd rather call them "Hurtung cats", since Eugen Hurtung was the actual artist. But anyway, I was thinking about those lovely postcards this weekend, and today I painted this:

I know, it's insanely early for holiday cards. Think of it as an August heat wave relief card.
